Tour of Turkey – Yellow Jersey thrown into barriers

Scroll to 3:40 and watch as Theo Bos of Rabobank grabs the leader of the race (yellow jersey) Darril Impey and throws him into the barrier. The camera catches him near the bottom left of the screen and you can see the rider reach up, grab the guy by the jersey and throw him in. The announcer is absolutely correct, this should be a life time ban from the sport. This is the worst thing I have ever seen in sports, let alone cycling. Unbelievable.

If you think this was an accident. Watch Bos (in red), he grabs the jersey at the left shoulder and pulls the guy towards him. He wasn’t tapping him, he literally pulls him. It could “possibly” be that he was trying to drag him out of the way and the rider is just a complete moron and rookie but I find that hard to believe. Watch his arms, in HQ you can see him pulling. There’s some comments on the youtube video saying otherwise but I don’t think those guys have ever ridden a bike before. It is really easy to pull someone down. Most of these guys weigh between 160-175 and the bike weighs 15-16lbs. You’re clipped in to the pedals meaning attached. At this point the bike is part of you. Anyone that has ridden a road bike before knows this feeling. And if you’ve ridden a nice bike you know it even more.

This guy deserves a life time ban, period.

Update, Theo Bos defends himself.

Even if it was not intentional by Bos its still a ban IMO. You don’t want someone that inexperienced in major races. There was a pile up into the barries at the end of Flanders. No one pulled anyone there. I understand its easy for me to talk, like I even know what its liek to be in that situation. I wouldn’t want to eat barrier. But when you cause a crash like that and basically put someone out of racing for a long time if not life its a ban. Intentional or note.

“Imprey suffered cracked vertebrae in his lower back and neck, chipped teeth and facial lacerations. He will miss next month’s Giro and could even miss the rest of the season.”

The giro is huge, its a big blow to his career. Especially after getting yellow.

This is one of those sporting incidents like Tyson biting that guy’s ear. You don’t have to watch cycling to understand how wrong this is.

Long way home

Here is my route home from work if I take the long way down cherry creek trail. Its a nice flat ride that you can really fly on and keep a good cadence.

Where did the Rockies go?

I guess the sweep got to their heads, or maybe they just need a break, but the Rockies aren’t holding up against the Blue Jays. They lost the first game in extra innings, then stumbled today through an 11-6 loss. But there’s no team in baseball that’s gone undefeated. This is just a bump the Rockies are going to have to move over and get back to playing good baseball.

Rockies win 6-1 over Yankees

How about them apples? One more game, one more game and the series is ours. I wish I had ESPN so I could hear all the hype. And now I start thinking about the what if. What if the Rockies make the playoffs? What if they make the world series? Damn that would be kick ass.

Rockies beat Yankees 3-1

The Rockies continue to impress as they hold back the Yankees 3-1 in front of a full crowd at Coors field. Sure the stadium sold out for the Yankees, but nothing like shoving it in a bunch of Yankee loving fans faces like so much dog poo. The Rockies are officially the hottest team in baseball with a 18-7 streak since May 22nd. The Colorado Rockies are now 36-34. The next hurdle? Keeping those fans in their seats after we’re done with the Yankees. I remember the Blake Street Bombers and I don’t think they could of been so if they didn’t have legions of adoring fans to cheer them on. Remember when Coors Field was just a few years old and seats were hard to get?

Tampa Bay strikes back

The Colorado Rockies finally gave in and lost a game. But what can you do when the general manager of the Devil Rays sells his soul to the Devil so they can win? You just can’t fight the devil. The final score was 7-4. A pretty big win for the Rays. The Rockies just couldn’t pump out those crucial hits when needed like they have been doing. Colorado is now on a day off as they prepare to face the other hot team in the MLB, the Yankees. Now for the true trial. The Rockies are going to have to get rock solid to hold down the Yankees.

Rockies do it again

Rocks just spanked the Devil Rays 12-2. Man this rocks. I can’t think of anything as great as my favorite baseball team rocking. They just came down like a rock slide, Slugging rocks off into the stands left and right. Ok, maybe that was too much.

They’re now 1 game above 500. I know it doesn’t sound like much, but unless you’re a Rockies fan you won’t understand. Lets hope this isn’t just a fad and they really stick to it and make it a style throughout the season.

Rockies – Wow

Rockies just won the series against the Red Sox at Fenway. I wouldn’t believe it either, so here read this:

http://www.sbrforum.com/Recaps/MLB/20070614ML—BOSTON—-0.aspx

They didn’t just win either, they pounded the Red Sox like inmates pound their prison bitches. And they did it twice, against two great pitchers. Not to mention the Red Sox have one of the best records in the mlb. First game they loose 2-1, I was happy they scored and kept it so low. I completely expected the Rockies to get slaughtered. Then they come back with a 12-2 win and then today’s 7-1. They won against an undefeated pitcher.
So what gives? Where does this come from? The Rockies loose 12 out of 13 and then the next month go on a 7 game winning streak and hammer one of the best teams in baseball. Along with winning their 4th road series.

We’ll see if it lasts, the Rockies are still … rocky. I’m skeptical like most other Rockies fans. They do have to play the Yankees who are on a 9 game winning streak.
